چکیده

Study Protocol After the stabilization period, 45 male rats were randomly divided into three groups. Rats in group I (control group; n = 15) underwent laparotomy with manipulation of the pancreas (sham procedure) and received 10 ml/kg saline intravenously (single dose). Groups II and III underwent laparotomy with induction of ANP. Rats in group II (positive control; n = 15) received saline, as in group I but 6 hours after induction of ANP. Rats in group III (treatment group; n = 15) received 100 μg/kg recombinant human APC (Drotrecogin alfa [activated]; Xigris; Lilly, Istanbul, Turkey) intravenously (single dose) 6 hours after induction of ANP. Twenty-four hours after induction of ANP, all surviving animals were killed by intracardiac infection of pentobarbital (200 mg/kg). Blood samples were taken from the heart before the animals were killed in order to measure serum amylase, TNF-α, and IL-6. Animals that died before the end of the study (four in group II and two in group III) were excluded from the analysis. References 1. Effect of Diclofenac Suppository on Treatment of Acute Biliary Pancreatitis

Background and Aim: Acute pancreatitis is an inflammatory pancreatic disease that is associated with low or no fibrosis of the pancreas. Standard non-surgical treatment in all patients involves correcting water and electrolyte disorders, pain relief and avoiding pancreatic secretion. Given that pancreatitis is an inflammatory process, and NSAIDs have been shown to modulate inflammatory processe...

The effect of activated protein C on experimental acute necrotizing pancreatitis

INTRODUCTION Acute pancreatitis is a local inflammatory process that leads to a systemic inflammatory response in the majority of cases. Bacterial contamination has been estimated to occur in 30-40% of patients with necrotizing pancreatitis. Development of pancreatic necrosis depends mainly on the degree of inflammation and on the microvascular circulation of the pancreatic tissue. Activated pr...

Familial hypertriglyceridemia-induced acute necrotizing pancreatitis: A case report

Acutepancreatitis can infrequently be a life-threatening complication of hypertriglyceridemia. Rarely, hypertriglyceridemia can originate from an inborn genetic error in lipoproteins metabolism. This condition can be manifested by very high serum triglyceride levels (>1000 mg/dl) and a more severe and lethal form of pancreatitis. Here, we present a case of acute pancreatic which was found out t...

Action of antiproteases on the inflammatory response in acute pancreatitis.

The spectrum of acute pancreatitis ranges from mild edematous disease to a severe necrotizing process which is usually accompanied by local or systemic complications and even mortality. Early deaths (within the first week) due to severe acute pancreatitis are generally caused by massive inflammatory responses which result in multiple organ failure. Although the exact mechanisms which trigger th...

The protective effect of nano-curcumin in experimental model of acute pancreatitis: The involvement of TLR4/NF-kB pathway

Objective(s): The objective of the present study is to explore whether Nanocurcumin improves pancreatic inflammation through the inhibition of the TLR4/NFkB signaling pathway in cerulein-induced acute pancreatitis. Methods: Acute pancreatitis was induced by five intraperitoneal (i.p.) injection of cerulein (50 μg/kg) with 1h intervals. Vehicle and nanocurcumin (100mg/kg/day) were given to the a...
